that we use almost daily to transport the medically fragile children who live at this home to and from doctor's appointments, physical therapy sessions, etc. Although the van we use now has an electric rear wheelchair lift (that comes out the back of the van) MANY wheelchair vans are equipped with SIDE electric lifts that come out the SIDE. Those lines you see painted next to the handicapped spot are to give room for the lift to come out and down, as well as provide space for the wheelchair-bound person to use the lift to get in and out of the van. If we had been in our old wheelchair van, we would not have been able to use this space. I'm all for parking in the "sweet" spots to avoid door dings, but this guy/girl is probably messing up someone's day!
